Sorry about the title of this post. I was posting a question before I realized that it was not appropriate for the forum. I didn't know how to edit the title. Here's a photo of my lightly used "new" DW 15-2V6 I picked up a couple days ago for $300 plus a non firearm related item I had collecting dust in my house. No barrel tool or anything else with it. The finish shows no wear except for a couple light ejector scratches and some small rust spots on the rib and cylinder from improper storage/maintenance. The barrel is making contact with the barrel/forcing cone so the B/C gap needs to be adjusted. The barrel tool should arrive tomorrow and I've got feeler gauges and have read the procedure to setting the gap. The finish would be perfect if someone had taken the time to wipe it down. The trigger was over traveling and not resetting consistently until I backed out the over travel screw on the trigger a tad. I'm looking forward to shooting it after fixing the gap issue.

Good find, congrats! You need to be prepared for a frozen barrel nut. It happened to me on the '77 unfired model 15V I purchased. Here is the thread on how I solved the problem:
Hopefully, you won't need it but if you do, you should find all you need in the thread. Feel free to ask any questions if you run into this problem.

BTW, I bought a pair of Hogue grips on the CZ-USA store a few weeks ago and I think they're great. You can buy them other places too, but I bought them there because they had a pretty good sale. Here is the link:

Very good info help on removing stubborn barrel nut. Thanks! That's what I'm concerned about since the seller didn't have to tool and the guy that sold him to him may not have had if off either. I found a DW smooth walnut square tang target grip/no medallions on ebay that looks good from pictures for $18.95 /$24.95 I was the only bidder, makes me wonder. Another one looked identical and they were asking $100 and advertised as "rare" early model grip. I believe my 312XXX 15-2 is @1981 mfg. date and that grip was early seventies( ?) so not really age appropriate for my gun. Not really sure if I care, but may be able to find someone who wants my grip and it may pay for a more age appropriate grip if I wanted to.

You're right about the prices I'm seeing for DW wood grips. I saw a mint "zebra" grip for $220 and the DW smooth wood targets @$100-150. I found a DW smooth walnut target grip square tang no one else bid on for 18.95 + $5.95 shipping. I saw an identical grip for $99.99. I've got the Hogue monogrips on my GP100s but a nice wood grip would suit the 15-2 well as far as looks I think. Thanks for the link. You guys here are a lot of help.

Glad to be of help. The EWK hex drive barrel nut wrench was extremely convenient with my gun and I think works better for a frozen barrel nut than a standard wrench. I bought a standard wrench from him as well and will probably never use the hex drive wrench again, but it was well worth the price. I bought a second barrel from CZ-USA (the 2&3/4" blued) and love it. I wouldn't have been able to do that had I not been able to loosen that frozen barrel nut.

If I have a problem with the standard wrench I'll try you're method. The more I think about it, a frozen barrel nut may be why the seller sold it. The notches in the nut don't look bugged up though. It's got some liquid wrench soaking in until the wrench arrives. How he didn't know the cylinder was contacting the barrel/forcing cone is a mystery to me. I'm anxious to see if there's a problem and to shoot it for the first time.

The EWK standard barrel wrench arrived today and to my great relief it was a snug but the nut came off easily. I've got a new barrel nut coming. The barrel was easy to unscrew and I adjusted the gap to .004. The tightest chamber the .004 gauge was pretty tight. I'm heading to the range now to see how it shoots. What a neat system for changing out barrels.

I thought a nice walnut target grip would dress the old 15-2 up and began looking on ebay. I didn't want to spend much on the gun until I got it up and running properly. The checkered target grips were $80-$200+ and then I spotted this walnut target grip for $18.95. The seller stated he didn't know what model it fit but was square tang. I was the only bidder. I saw an identical grip advertised as "rare" early model no medallion grip for $99.99. I took a chance and it came today. It fits well and feels good in my XL hands. It amazes me the discrepancy in prices there. I saw two grip washers for $8.95 after shipping. Then I saw 2 grip screws(long & short) 3 washers and the allen wrench for 6.95+ shipping. Pays to look around. What do you think? Worth $18.95?

That's great news that the barrel nut wasn't frozen. I'm not that surprised about the no-logo plain grip. That grip came with my '76/77 15v and it was too bulky for me. I picked up the Pachmeyr presentation grips and I really like the nice Hogue Pau Ferro grips I picked up on sale at the CZ-USA store. You'll need to give us a range report when you get a chance.

Tex, you're right they're a bit bulky but I wanted a wood grip in addition to the Pachmayr gripper that are pretty comfortable shooting. For the first range trip I planned on starting with 130 grain 38spl FMJ and if all went well switch to 158 grain 357. But after 40 38 spl the cylinder stop flew out and ended my shooting. The rear sight is loose so I expected to need to adjust it but the first 6 shots were right where I pointed at 35 ft. It's my fault all six weren't in the same hole. I only shot SA as somethings definitely not right DA. The extractor rod unscrewed so I used some blue loctite on it. I reinstalled the cylinder stop in the hole in the side plate using red loctite. Before I reinstalled the stop I noticed the hair line crack on the back of the side plate. The gun is more accurate than I am. I may have bought my first safe queen by accident if I can't get another side plate. I'll probably put it aside for a while and go

Hey, It's a year later but I must say this. A good idea in cases of stress cracks is to contact a microwelding outfit and send them a detailed photo for a quick estimate. It'll look like new, and they can also weld the cylinder stop in place, solving both issues without having to adapt a new side plate, which is a pain, and never looks quite right.

Good to know about the microwelding. I have a collection of sideplate. Lol. But since they are fitted before polishing each gun is different and it is very hard to fit a different used sideplate and get it to look right.
The smooth target with no medallions predated the later and very expensive smooth target with medallion. 1976 sounds about right. Maybe a little earlier too. The wide base is meant to force your hand higher on the grip for better control. I prefer finger groove grips myself.
