There have been no s/n's submitted to the registry for 715's with a "/". Even if you don't have a date of manufacture, are there more of these on the Forum? Just curious how rare these are.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I think I have one or two more, but I can't locate them at the moment.
Bruce, I believe the early stainless guns used the "s/" designation. Later on, they changed to two lettersâ¦

From there, they went to thisâ¦"B" for blued, "S" for stainless.

Now this one stumps me.
The gun looks stainless, but the s/n makes me assume it's merely been coated to look stainless.

CF- The thing that really strikes me with that last picture you posted is how smooth the finish looks. I think it looks like a refinished 15-2, you don't seem to see any of the characteristics of the "brushing" of a stainless DW finish. And you're right, the s/n would seem to place it earlier than the 1982 intro of Stainless.
Once again, mysteries abound, but it does seem that the "/" serial numbers are less common, and largely lower numbers
