Not that everyone on this forum hasn't seen a thousand of these already, but I'm super excited.

The first revolver I ever shot was my uncle's DW 357 back in the early 80's.  I've always wanted to purchase one for myself, but just never came across exactly what I was looking for.  This week I did.  I picked up a 'like new' 15-2 HV with box, sleeve, papers, tools, etc.

I hate to be the annoying newbie on the forum who asked one of two questions... how much is it worth or when it was made.  Instead, I'm just going to ask where I can look up date of manufacture by serial number?  I'd love to dig it up myself, but would love to know how.

Seen a couple mentions to links on this forum that have this information, but so far, I haven't found it.

The serial number is 1377XX

Very nice DW!! Interesting barrel though. It isn’t HV, but simply H. Not sure I’ve seen one like it before. Best guess on manufacture date would be 1978 ish.

Such a beautiful gun. You should be aware of a particular problem with DW Revolvers. There is no cylinder release on the left side behind the cylinder. When ejecting cases the cylinder has a tendency to close while the extractor star is extended. It will scratch the sideplate and gouge the back of the recoil shield. Almost all used small frame Dans have the scratches. It is heartbreaking when it is first noticed. When ejecting cases keep your left hand pointer and middle finger poking through the frame pushing against the cylinder while you push the ejector rod. Keep the gun tilted to the left to prevent the cylinder from closing. In any event, those two fingers help open the cylinder when you push the cylinder release down.

The Serial Number Registry is only available to forum "Supporters", in a restricted section.
