OfflineDW introduced the Stainless 715 in 1983.
This gun, SER#S/001983 I recall was a featured gun in the magazine articles and reviews.   Still digging for the rags of that era, but the ser# has familiarity to me.
This would make it one of the first stainless?  Or am I mistaken?

OfflineI found the auction you're talking about...very interesting! Yes, looking at the S/N on the gun in the article I have posted, from June 1983...I would say that the auction gun is most definitely one of the first 715's made. Definitely from the first year, at least. The S/N on the gun in the G&A article is S/002293.
I have no idea if the 715's started with #S/000001 or not, but the "1983" in the auction gun could have possibly been a custom #? The only ones who could possibly answer that one, or at least shed some light, would be one of the Wesson boys that are still around.ÂÂ
Here is the G&A article from June 1983...
Once this auction is over, I am moving this thread to "Dan Wesson History". In hopes that we can get more answers to your question, Scout...in the coming months, days, years.ÂÂ
