So I picked up my blemished Eco today at my FFL. When I open the box the first thing I did was take out the SN#'d paper that shows the location of the blemish and description. First stated was "bad polish lines over polished chamfer" and secondly, "thumb safety ding". So I take out the gun and find neither of the two at least I could not notice any blemish.

As I take a look at the rest of the gun I easily find damage to the checkering of the main spring housing. This gun is not used but was somehow damaged during shipping. Unfortunately, I could only return the gun for credit  and they had not replacements so I decided to keep it. Other than the damages this is a beautiful gun. I am very dissapointed in this and am curious if this is something Dan Wesson would be willing to send a replacement part for install as I not want to take a chance putting it through shipping again. I wish this could have gone as easy as my last purchase of my black Valor Vbob.

Contact DW and explain that you received the ECO and it appears to be damaged in shipment.  If they want you to return it to your dealer, that's what I would do.  But...  if you wish to keep it, you should be able to purchase a new Main Spring Housing from them or look at some of the ED Brown products.

OP, is there any progress in your issue? Just wondering if you have contacted Norwich and what the outcome was, or you decided to go a different route with this.

I was contacted by Keith last week and he ask for my address so they could send A replacement part. This happened a month ago with my S&W 627 PC that arrived with cracked grips. Smith sent me a new pair within a week. Just luck of the draw I guess but its nice to know you can spend 1000+ on a gun and they warrant there product. I posted this exact post on 1911 Forum and they acted like rabid animals on a witch hunt. As if I was crying and complaining after finding defects on a blemished gun. It  happens to any gun as already stated, but in this case this was not mentioned on the blemished sheet which is why I was disappointed. This is not my first Dan Wesson and wont be my last but If they stand behind there product like they said I would buy another blem or non blem going forward.

Glad that it worked out.  We definitely aren't "rabid" here.  We ALWAYS try to work through issues- most of us have been there at one time or another.  A much smaller 1911 group here and we often refer to 1911 Forum for tech advice.

We're more like the brother in law whom you can ask for help and sometimes the one who helps you spend your money....

Thanks for the follow up, I had asked because I like to know how things get resolved, it is pertinent to any potential Dan Wesson customer who might stop by the DWF. Sounds like a fair and reasonable solution from Keith.

Ron is right we are a more low key group here, interested in finding solutions to issues. Any new member can stop by the DWF, and ask a question that has already been asked a hundred times and he will get a courteous response or direction to an existing thread. I have never seen name calling or bashing here but I have seen it on nearly every other forum I have visited.

DWF is a relatively small shooting forum, our Members seem to like it.

You won't see personal attacks here, we supply information and welcome the opportunity to learn and share.

Our Staff has very little to do, except talk about Dan Wessons. Members role model and "police" DWF in very positive ways.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
