I'll ask in general but suspect that IHMSA 80X80 will know..  The SRS-1 revolvers had special sights on them including the "partridge" front I believe it is called.  Is it possible to obtain these sights somewhere for the rear of a non SRS revolver to make it more adjustable?  I had talked to CZ and you can still buy the front sights but there are five different ones available and unless you know what you are doing I do not know how you would know what to choose.  They claim they are differnet heights.  Anyone with suggestions?

The height of the front sight depends on the distance you'll be shooting the taller is for closer and the original ram series used Bomar rear sights; which had fine adjustments for use at 100 and 200 meters.  The proper spelling is patridge for the front sight, there's a discussion of this somewhere on this site.

I think there are some models of S&W's that have an adjustable front sight for that very purpose.  I wonder if you can still get that cool hooded sight that's on some of IHMSA80x80's guns?

Jody,

The Dan Wesson parts ist in the Forum lists 4-available patridge sights available I found that out this evening.  The rear adjustable SRS is no longer available.  That list answered my question, just didn't look there first, my bad.

I just today saw an older S&W Model 29 with a (probably) 10" barrel and that adjustable front sight-a first for me.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Good luck finding a Bo-Mar rear sight for the Dan Wesson, they are no longer in business due to the death of the owner. The hooded front sights I have on a couple of mine are made by Lansing Shooting Supply and should still be available from them for about $35.

That would solve your front sight height problem, since the Lansing has a threaded post that is adjustable for blade height and width. Should work with any rear sight you may have.

IHMSA,

Do you have a link to Lansing?  I cannot find them.

No link, as they don't have a website. The only thing I have is the e-mail for Bill Boros.

gypsyman@bex.net

Keep trying, he doesn't check his e-mail often.

IHMSA,

Thanks for the lead,  Bill responded rather promptly, but he stated he has been out for a few years and referred me to Ken Light.  their site seems to be catered to single shot rail sights and scope mounts.

That is too bad. It seems these sights have all but disappeared from the face of the earth. And I could use a few more sets of them. Of well, the search continues...

I installed the patridge sight on the business end of my 15-2 8 inch and then purchased a Millet targt rear. I like the picture the combo provided-However, the Millet does not seem to hold its windage position very well. It's so tight, turnig the screw does not always move the blade. Not good.

Hi...

I installed to my DW 44 magnum Finn Sight rear and front sights, they are similar to bomar sights.

Very interesting looking sights. The website does not really provide much information, did it require any modification? Pictures of your gun would be great to see.

Hi...

Rear sight is are Ruger sights but can drop in style maybe slight filing to fitting, both Ruger and Dan Wesson uses Eliasson sights.

Front sight is slightly tricky because its base is machined from aluminum and mounted with screws, my friend installed my front sight with two screws first one he made block what fit in original sight place and screw it in that block and second srew he put in sight rail.
