Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Yeah, well it is complete bullhockey.   First off, it is NOT an executive order.   Somehow all the alarmists seem to think that any piece of regulation comes from Obama's pen as the form of an executive order.   That's not the case.   This is a notice of a proposed rule in the Federal Register from the state department to update the ITAR rules that have banned dissemination of "munitions" information to foreigners for decades.   All it does is update the rules to cover the prevelence of the internet (before we were talking about printing stuff on paper and sending them abroad, etc).   Nothing in this Proposed Rule changes anything about the content of the rules/laws that were already in force.   Just the means.   If you were enjoined from sending information about a certain technology abroad before, you are still.

There's nothing GUN RELATED in the PR.   The ITAR rules mostly have been used of late to hammer down on the more sophisticated ENCRYPTION and PRIVACY software.   If you want to get riled up, get riled up over that!

You can file comments by going to regulations.gov and searching for 1400–AD70.  You have until August 3.

Typical NRA bullship whipping up of the membership in anticipation of hitting them up for more money.

There's a public comment period for the new definitions used in ITAR.  Google: Federal Register /Vol. 80, No. 106/Wednesday, June 3, 2015/Proposed Rule:

" DATES: The Department of State will accept comments on this proposed rule until August 3, 2015. ADDRESSES: Interested parties may submit comments within 60 days of the date of publication by one of the following methods: • Email: DDTCPublicComments@ state.gov with the subject line, ‘‘ITAR Amendment—Revisions to Definitions; Data Transmission and Storage.’’ • Internet: At http://www.regulations.gov, search for this notice by using this rule’s RIN (1400–AD70). "

I've already written all my representatives too.  Of course, neither of my Senators voted to confirm Eric Holder in a Skirt...

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....
