I am getting a little concerned with how DWAS (Dan Wesson Acquisition Syndrome) is starting to affect some people here. Based on how some collections are growing, I think some of you guys are going into Stage 2 DWAS, more correctly known as Dan Wesson Addiction Syndrome.

Here's what I propose:

Once clear signs of Addiction clearly manifest in a Members behavior, I will volunteer to stage an intervention, which will consist of me requiring the addicted Member to immediately send me his entire Dan Wesson collection. Once I determine that the unfortunate DW Addict is once again in control of his life, I will begin returning his collection, one item at a time. It shouldn't take more than a year or two for some of you demonstrate your ability to keep your "problem" under control.

I know, it's a nasty responsibility I'm volunteering for, but I'm willing to step up for the good of DWF, and my friends here. No thanks neccessary, I'm really a very humble and selfless person.

Steve

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

That is the most genuinely unselfish and kind offer for your fellow DWF member I've heard all week! I cincerely hope you will be able to save some of these poor afflicted souls from such a drastic fate.

Myself, I'm just darn glad I only have two in my collection & therefore am automatically exhonerated from the very notion of having such an affliction.

Charger, It's not the size of your collection, but the rate at which it grows. I, for example had 30 years between #1 and #2, anything more rapid may be a problem. Also, Supermags are a special affliction, I really want to get my hands on, oops, I mean really want to save folks from the lure of those evil Supermags.

Only up the point that it becomes addiction, and I have to interevene and take away your toys. it then becomes a good thing for ME that YOU have DWAS.

Be careful, I'm watching

I only have one right now, but may have two by tomorrow.

I sure thank you guys for offering your help with my addiction.  I am new, so maybe, just maybe, I may be cured of this horrible thing soon, maybe after a few more, maybe.

LOL

Hey guys just a thought. If someone were to actually acquire every model and every caliber, in every finish available. Would DWAS be cured? I realize with my finical situation this is not going to happen but who knows. Maybe Ill buy a lotto ticket on the way home.Wink

P.S. I'm not sure I want to be cured. I guess we could have two of everything.

Lbruce,

I am not sure you can be cured of our disease.  I started out wanting to collect one of each of the SM calibers, did that, then wanted one of each NIB unfired, did that.  Now I kep finding other reasons to continue.......  on and on it goes.  Where it stops..Surprised  Nobody kn......

lbruce - you have the answer!  The next step would be how many full sets you could acquire...one set is your "shooter" set, one set is for show, one set to give to a buddy on the DWF...you know...Wink

Good luck with the lotto!

Everyone just keep on Aquiring/Addicting. I'm watching, and I will step in when needed. FYI- I was on a long, long automobile journey yeaterday and today that started in Texas, and passed through Salem, Virginia at about 4 AM today. I was clearly in a position to stop a couple of you, but I think I'll wait.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I knew it was either something like that, or maybe one of those GM SUV's.
